Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about AJN sports
Teams
How much does a team cost?
Families are always free. The team plan is $99/yr or $10/mo, billed to the team admin. Creating the team, the roster, invites and practices stay free — the plan starts when you schedule the first game or open Game Day. Parent dues stay between families; AJN sports never takes a cut.
How do parents join a team?
Through the coach. The coach adds your player to the roster and an invite goes to your email — open the link to connect your player. Or enter the team code the coach shares with you; team staff approve your player before they join the roster. Joining is free.
Which sports have Game Day?
Soccer gets the full Game Day: the sideline board, subs, playing time, opponent scouting and full match recaps. Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Football, Flag Football, Lacrosse and Hockey get live scoring from the sideline with a game clock and a final-score recap; the full Game Day board is soccer-only for now. Tennis, Swimming, Volleyball, Golf, Track & Field, Cycling, Gymnastics, Wrestling and Martial Arts get the schedule, RSVPs, messaging and a final score for every family when the game ends. Every sport gets the team schedule, RSVPs and messaging.
Can I see the live score on my lock screen?
Yes, in the AJN sports iPhone app. During a live game the score sits on your lock screen and updates as it changes, so you can follow along from another field. It works for the sports with live scoring (Soccer, Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Football, Flag Football, Lacrosse and Hockey). The iPhone app is in App Store review now.
For Parents
How much does AJN sports cost for parents?
AJN sports is free for families — there's no parent subscription. Create a free account and your kids get access to coaches, scheduling, and messaging. You pay coaches directly for the sessions you book (typically via Venmo or cash); the platform takes no cut.
Are pickup games free?
Yes — pickup games are free for everyone, and AJN sports is free for families overall (there's no parent subscription). Just create a free account and start playing.
How do I find a coach for my child?
After signing up, browse our coach directory by sport, location, and availability. You can read community reviews, view each coach's self-provided profile (bio, sports, years of experience), and request a booking. AJN sports does not independently verify coach credentials — ask coaches about certifications directly.
How are coaches rated?
Coaches are rated through our community review system. Parents and players leave public ratings and reviews after sessions, so you can see real feedback on every coach profile before booking.
Is AJN sports safe for kids?
We're COPPA-compliant, require parental consent for players under 13, and keep messaging on the platform so parents of managed accounts can stay involved. Coaches are rated by the community; we do not independently background-check coaches. Read our full Safety Policy for details.
Can I manage multiple kids on one account?
Yes! One free family account covers all your kids. You can track schedules and sessions for each child separately.
What sports are supported?
AJN sports has a page for each of 16 sports: Soccer, Basketball, Tennis, Football, Baseball, Softball, Volleyball, Hockey, Golf, Gymnastics, Swimming, Martial Arts, Track & Field, Cycling, Flag Football and Lacrosse.
For Coaches
How much does it cost to be a coach on AJN sports?
Coaches pay a flat plan based on active players: free for up to 2, then $10/mo ($99/yr) up to 5, $20/mo ($199/yr) up to 10, $30/mo ($299/yr) up to 20, $40/mo ($399/yr) up to 30, and $50/mo ($499/yr) for 30+. An active player completed a session in the last 90 days, counted by player, not household. We never take a commission or percentage of your earnings. Everything you charge, you keep.
Do you take a cut of my coaching fees?
Never. AJN sports charges a flat monthly or annual fee. We take zero commission. You set your rates, you keep your earnings.
How do I sign up as a coach?
Click "Get started free" at the top of the page, select Coach, complete your profile (bio, sports, experience, photo), and set your availability and rates. The whole setup takes less than 5 minutes.
What features do coaches get?
Coaches get a scheduling calendar, private and group training options, direct messaging with parents, booking and cancellation notifications, and a public profile page where parents can discover you. You set your own rates, session lengths, and availability. Payments are handled directly between you and your clients — via Venmo or cash, your choice. No credit card fees. No middleman. No commission. Everything you earn is yours.
Can I set my own rates?
Absolutely. You have complete control over your pricing, session length, and availability. AJN sports never dictates what you charge.
Pickup Games
What are pickup games?
Pickup games are informal, community-organized sports games in your area. Parents or coaches can create a game, set the sport, location, time, and number of players needed, and other community members can join. Great for extra practice, fun, and meeting other young athletes.
Do I need to pay to play in pickup games?
No. Pickup games are always free. You just need a free AJN sports account to create or join games.
Can I create a pickup game for my neighborhood?
Yes! Any registered user can create a pickup game. Set the sport, date, time, location, and player limit, and share it with your community.
